Goals, Stats, and Joe Cole’s Advice on How Nicolas Jackson Is Succeeding for Chelsea and Senegal
Nicolas Jackson has emerged as one of Chelsea’s top performers this season, recently adding another goal to his tally for Senegal in their match against Malawi.
Enzo Maresca has managed to bring out the best in several players this season, with Jackson being a prime example.
The Senegalese forward has already notched up four goals and three assists in eight appearances for Chelsea, solidifying his place as the team’s main striker.
However, he found himself in a bit of trouble during the altercation with Nottingham Forest’s Morato after the final whistle of their last game, where he slapped the player. Fortunately for Jackson, he avoided any disciplinary ban.
During his recent international duty with Senegal, he continued to perform well.
Breaking down Jackson’s numbers against Malawi, he played 81 minutes, scored a goal, and was a constant threat. He managed one shot on target, one off target, completed his only dribble, had 31 touches, an 82% passing accuracy, won three out of six duels, lost possession seven times, was fouled once, and made one tackle (according to SofaScore).
Playing for Senegal comes with its own set of challenges compared to Chelsea, where he benefits from the service of players like Cole Palmer and Jadon Sancho.
Interestingly, Filip Jorgensen has also expressed his admiration for Jackson from their time together at Villarreal.
Joe Cole’s advice to Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea
Jackson faced some criticism last season and early this season, but he has since made significant improvements and has become one of the key players for Maresca.
Joe Cole shared some advice for Jackson, saying, “He’s faced a lot of criticism. He’s a young striker still learning, and he’s doing so on the biggest stage. He’s scoring goals, and the most important thing is that he stays confident. He’s had a great start, a solid pre-season, and he finished his second goal against West Ham brilliantly.”
