Chelsea Look to Overcome Post-Break Struggles in Clash with Leicester
Chelsea faces a challenge in securing three points against Leicester City this weekend, with their track record after international breaks raising concerns.
The Blues entered the break following consecutive Premier League draws with Manchester United and Arsenal.
Enzo Maresca’s side has managed just one win in their last five league matches, a home victory over Newcastle United in late October. Despite these struggles, Chelsea sits third in the Premier League standings with 19 points from 11 games.
Struggles After International Breaks
Chelsea is favored to win Saturday’s away game against newly-promoted Leicester City, but their post-international break form is worrying.
The team has only won once in their last seven league games following such breaks, drawing three and losing three. That lone victory came in September when Christopher Nkunku scored a late winner against Bournemouth.
However, they failed to replicate that success after October’s break, losing 2-1 to Liverpool.
Positive Record Against Leicester
Chelsea can take confidence from their strong record against Leicester, having won five of their last six meetings. Last season, they defeated Maresca’s Leicester 4-2 at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Additionally, Cole Palmer has been a standout performer against newly-promoted teams, contributing to 10 goals in just five appearances. However, the Blues will be without Reece James, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.
