Ben Chilwell wants to Quit Chelsea: Clubs Hold Talks Ahead of Potential January Move
Chelsea are currently in discussions with interested clubs regarding a potential departure of one of their players ahead of the January transfer window, as it’s believed that the player is looking to leave Stamford Bridge.
Potential Departures from Chelsea in January or Next Summer
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea team is set to face Liverpool this Sunday in a highly anticipated match, as they aim to challenge Arne Slot’s title contenders while potentially pushing for their own league ambitions.
Maresca has led Chelsea to a strong start this season, with four wins, two draws, and just one loss in the league—suffered against Manchester City. The upcoming match against Liverpool is considered one of their toughest challenges so far.
Chelsea’s top performers this season include Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho, and Moises Caicedo. They will be crucial in Chelsea’s efforts to succeed against Liverpool at Anfield.
Upcoming Chelsea Fixtures:
- Liverpool (away) – October 20
- Newcastle (home) – October 27
- Man United (away) – November 3
- Arsenal (home) – November 10
- Leicester City (home) – November 23
Some Chelsea players are expected to play smaller roles in the team. Maresca has not hesitated to let go of several squad members, such as Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Hall, Romelu Lukaku, and many others, either through loans, permanent transfers, or free transfers.
Chelsea is also open to sending Mykhailo Mudryk out on loan in January to gain more playing time. Additionally, there are suggestions that both Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile could be sold.
AC Milan has shown interest in Carney Chukwuemeka, aiming to convince the young midfielder to move to the San Siro for more first-team opportunities. Chukwuemeka is reportedly seeking a transfer to secure regular playing time, as is left-back Ben Chilwell.
Ben Chilwell, who has struggled to gain a starting spot under Maresca with Marc Cucurella preferred in the position, is said to be looking to leave Chelsea. He has mostly been used in cup games, which has led to dissatisfaction with his current role.
Ben Chilwell’s Situation
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chilwell now wants to leave Chelsea, and the club is also open to his departure. Talks have already taken place with multiple clubs, including Fulham, Crystal Palace, Ipswich, and Manchester United, as well as teams from La Liga and Serie A.
Chelsea is encouraging clubs to express their interest in Chilwell, but so far, only loan deals with an obligation to buy have been proposed. However, Chelsea’s preference is for a permanent transfer, and they are not considering loan offers at this time.
Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard praised Chilwell’s abilities in 2020, highlighting his offensive capabilities and his overall quality on the pitch, expressing admiration for his style of play and commitment to the team.
