Enzo Maresca Reveals the Only Reason Jadon Sancho Could Be Dropped from Chelsea’s Starting XI
Jadon Sancho is making the most of his second chance at Chelsea after a challenging period at Manchester United.
The 24-year-old winger joined the Blues on loan over the summer, but his move is set to become permanent next summer, with Chelsea having an obligation to sign him if they finish in the Premier League’s top 14.
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Sancho has quickly found his feet, contributing two goals and five assists across all competitions this season.
His recent performances have been particularly impressive, scoring in Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 comeback win against Tottenham and their victory over Southampton.

Proving His Worth
Sancho is determined to silence his critics and prove his doubters wrong. Reflecting on his recent success, he said, “I know I have a lot of people to prove wrong, and I’m working hard every day in training.
Once I get my opportunity, I just try to show what I can do, so I’m happy that I scored and we got the three points for the team. I’m just taking it game-by-game and hopefully, I can continue this form.”
The England international is also grateful for the support he’s received at Chelsea: “I’m thankful that I’m here, grateful to the players and the staff for making me feel welcome, believing in me, and giving me the opportunity to play.”

A Regular in Maresca’s Plans
Sancho’s impressive form under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has secured him a regular spot in the starting lineup, despite competition from players like Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk.
His ability to contribute both offensively and defensively has made him a key part of the team. However, Maresca has made it clear that Sancho must maintain his high standards to keep his place.
“If his performance drops, he won’t play,” warned Maresca. “The reason why Jadon came here is because we think he can help us. He cannot drop; otherwise, he will not play.”
Maresca praised Sancho’s work ethic, particularly off the ball in the win against Tottenham: “His performance and Pedro Neto, on and off the ball, was very good. Off the ball, they were running, following Udogie, and defensively they were very good. This is what we need.”
Looking Ahead
With Sancho in good form and continuing to make an impact at Chelsea, he is quickly becoming one of the club’s most important players. As his move to Chelsea becomes permanent, all eyes will be on whether he can keep his momentum going and secure a future in west London.
