Marc Cucurella Reveals Marcus Bettinelli’s Surprising Role in Chelsea WhatsApp Group Management
Marc Cucurella revealed that Marcus Bettinelli, Chelsea’s backup goalkeeper, manages the club’s players’ WhatsApp group. According to Cucurella, Bettinelli is responsible for the group rules and penalty duties.
Despite Bettinelli’s limited playing time since joining Chelsea in 2021, he plays a unique role in keeping the squad connected off the pitch.
Cucurella also clarified that Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is not included in the group, as it’s primarily for players and support staff to coordinate training schedules and days off.

Additionally, Cucurella mentioned that there’s a separate WhatsApp group specifically for Chelsea’s Spanish players, where they share light-hearted content, including TikToks.
Currently, Chelsea has three Spanish players: Marc Cucurella, Robert Sánchez, and the young talent Marc Guiu, who joined the club this summer. Cucurella’s connection with his Spanish teammates remains strong, especially after his involvement in Spain’s Euro 2024 victory over England.
