Moises Caicedo Discusses Growing Partnership with Enzo Fernandez and Competition from Romeo Lavia
Moises Caicedo recently spoke about his partnership with Chelsea teammate Enzo Fernandez in an interview.
Caicedo, 22, has become a key figure in Chelsea’s midfield, starting every Premier League game this season. Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill predicted that Caicedo would excel for the Blues, and he’s certainly made an impact during his second year at the club.
On the other hand, 23-year-old Enzo Fernandez has also been a regular starter in midfield. While Fernandez may still be adapting to Enzo Maresca’s system, his potential remains clear.
It’s crucial for Chelsea’s head coach Maresca to maximize the performances of this high-profile midfield duo.

Caicedo believes his on-pitch relationship with Fernandez is improving as they play more games together. “Enzo and I get along very well, we talk, you can see it on the pitch, we are getting along better, we are playing more games together,” Caicedo told ESPN Ecuador.
Competition from Romeo Lavia
The Caicedo-Fernandez midfield combination shows promise but still needs to develop more balance in some situations. They should be mindful of the rising competition from Romeo Lavia.
Lavia has demonstrated his potential when fit, posing as a strong option for the Blues’ midfield. The 20-year-old Belgian recently overcame his hamstring injury and returned to the matchday squad before the international break.
If Caicedo and Fernandez struggle to find consistency, Lavia could very well challenge for a starting position in the lineup.
